Kidlink is a
playgroup created to bring together parents
with young children, and to encourage the
exchange of information and support among
members. Kidlink is run by a strictly
volunteer board, elected through the
membership on a yearly basis. Most
Kidlink members live in the communities of
Carmel Mountain Ranch, Mira Mesa, Poway,
Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Sabre
Springs, San Marcos, Escondido, or Scripps
Ranch. Field trips are usually planned
for these areas or can vary depending on
trip location.
A Bit of KIDLINK
History
Kidlink
has been around since 1989.
Kidlink
was originally called “Parents in Harmony”,
a trade name registered in March 1989, which
we were required to pay for after three
years of use. Although documents were drawn
up in 1992 to establish the legal use of
this former name, in February 1993 we became
Kidlink.
The name Kidlink was
registered with the City of San Diego as a
non-profit group in February 1993 and this
registration is renewed every 5 years. Our
most recent renewal was in January 2003.
The first bylaws were
developed using “The Amended Bylaws of the
Philippine Independent Catholic Church” as a
guideline. There is a copy of these bylaws
in our files as well as a copy of the first
Kidlink bylaws. This was about the
time that the group first had official board
members and followed a budget and financial
guidelines.
A few more interesting
changes over the years:
· In 1991,
there were seven people on the “advisory
Board” including a dad serving as “Dad’s
liaison.” Today the board consists of 14
positions, although the Dad’s liaison no
longer exists.
· In
September 1991 a couple’s night out was
introduced. Since 2000 this event has been
scheduled roughly 3 or 4 times a year.
· In
1991 there were approximately 60 families in
Kidlink. In 2001 we finished the
year with 73 members, and 2004 with 43
families.
· In
January 2005 a new website was developed.
We now have our own domain name, and we are
registered with Google and Yahoo to be
included in their search engines.

until May 1994, there was only o |
